The girl behind SOAK is more than just a protégé. Bridie Monds-Watson received significant acclaim in 2012 with 'Sea Creatures' and is proof that age does not define artistic maturity. Here and now, this beauty from Northern Ireland is keen on making a lasting impression. Bar the bass, Bridie plays every instrument on 'Blud' herself and has drawn early comparisons to the likes of Cat Power, and Lykke Li.
To be released in March, 'Blud' encapsulates all that is commonly understood of indie music. Charged with emotion, the track is one big juxtaposition. The fragile lyrics and warm melody result in optimistic melancholy: 'I'm in your blud, you're in my blud, let's just forget'. SOAK has crafted the beginning of what could easily become a masterpiece album.
Bridie will soon be joining Chvrches on their March tour, making a stop at Leeds Metropolitan University on the 9th. Tickets: http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/Chvrches-tickets/artist/1806203
