Girls On Fire For 2014 Featured

With Miley Cyrus getting naked and twerking her way through 2013, here's a look at some of the female artists a little more worthy of the world's attention for 2014...

New Zealand born Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O'Connor, is not your average sixteen year old girl. At this tender age, Lorde has already become the first solo artist from New Zealand to score a number one hit in the United States, and it's predicted that she'll have the same success here in the UK. Lorde's electro-pop début album, 'Pure Heroine', is available for pre-order and is set for release at the end of this month (October 28th).

My personal favourite. And, as it turns out, a raving drum and bass head. Formerly known as a contestant on BBC's, 'The Voice', Becky Hill is now signed to Parlophone after joining Rudimental on their energetic tour of festivals throughout the summer. Alongside 'Powerless', this dreamer's distinctive vocals also feature on Wilkinson's latest single, 'Afterglow', which is set to top the charts next week. Becky is currently working hard on her solo material, and her talent has caught the attention of some of the biggest producers in the game. Miss Hill is capable of big things and her album is going to be worth the wait, whichever direction it takes.

If you haven't already heard this name, then I don't know where you've been hiding. Ella made a name for herself with 'Waiting All Night', Rudimental's hit tune which recently went platinum here in the UK. Ella's flawless vocals can also be heard on Naughty Boy's latest track, 'Think About It' featuring Wiz Khalifa. The young lioness is currently preparing to support both Naughty Boy and Aluna George on their upcoming tours and will be releasing solo material early next year.

Louisa Rose Allen was introduced to the main stage crowd at Leeds Festival as one of Pete Went'z favourite UK artists. Foxes is the girl behind the vocals on Zedd's UK platinum single, 'Clarity' and Rudimental's hit song 'Right Here'. Despite these successful collaborations, Allen sees herself as more than just a feature artist, and will soon be releasing her own album. Until then, 'Youth' is the charming single that you've been hearing on the latest TV advert for Debenhams, and is a small tease of what to expect from this rising star.

A fine example of how YouTube exposure can work as a platform for songwriters. This fabulously talented British singer is now signed to Island Records and has supported Chase and Status on tour. Elli's EP 'Sober' is now available and it's one hell of a winner.

The chorus of Georgina Kingsley's single, 'In My Mind', originally became popularised through the electronic dance trio, Swedish House Mafia. This summer, Georgi released an authentic version of her single as part of a four track EP featuring the magical song, 'Ipswich'. Surprisingly, music is only the beginning for this beauty. Georgi has also impressed audiences on BBC2's drama, 'Top Of The Lake'.

Managed by Tinie Tempah, this 19 year old hot shot has already featured on tracks by Disclosure and Zinc and has been working toward the release of her début EP (October 29th). Check out Sasha's YouTube channel and expect the album to be a banger.

Blackpool born singer/songwriter Rae Morris appeared on the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading and Leeds Festival in 2011 and has since been on tour with Bombay Bicycle Club and Tom Odell. Judging by the masterpiece 'Don't Go', as featured on the finale of Skins, and her latest EP, 'From Above', Rae Morris is one of the most underrated talents around.
